The profanity filter is used when a student added a new paragraph to a story. If profanity is found it will be replaced with asterixes such as ****.
Teachers can view the unfiltered content by editing the paragraph that contains the profanity.
The intention of the filter isn't to remove all profanity, but rather give the teacher a chance to remove anything that doesn't have a place in the classroom. Students can be creative and will find ways around the filter so view it as a fallback tool that buys you some time to react.
We make use of join codes to prevent the need for student information. However we also support Login via Google apps. When a student makes use of a Google account we only store the unique identifier and first name of the student.
